Août 1969. Jérome Vikar, motard au crâne rasé et tatoué, débarque à Hollywood Boulevard. Il espère y débuter une prodigieuse carrière cinématographique. Mais très vite, les désillusions s'accumulent pour lui. Le cinéma n'est plus un septième art mais un grand commerce. Hollywood est une ville rongée par le sexe, les drogues et le rock'n'roll. La nouvelle génération qui s'installe progressivement dans la capitale du cinéma américain s'avère décérébrée et inculte. Vikar ne s'y sent plus à sa place, lui l'anticonformiste incompris.
