"One Man's Hero" raconte l'histoire de la "Bataillon de St Patrick" ou "San Patricios," un groupe d'immigrants surtout des Irlandais et d'autres de la foi catholique qui a déserté au Mexique après avoir rencontré les préjugés religieux et ethnique aux États-Unis peu connu armée pendant la guerre américano-mexicaine.
